New medical certificate duration
by Chief CFI - Thursday, 31 July 2008, 10:13 PM
Effective July 24, 2008, the rules that dictate the duration of medical certificates have changed. The change affects only pilots less than 40 years old that hold either a private pilot or an airline pilot certificate.
  • Private pilot less than 40 years old - medical certificate is now valid for 60 calendar months (instead of 36)
  • Airline pilot less than 40 years old - first class medical certificate is now valid for 12 calendar months (instead of 6)
The pilot tests are now reflecting this change.
